On 14 December 2023, the Lisbon Council convened an expert webinar on artificial intelligence (AI) and disinformation. The expert webinar was convened within FERMI, a 3-year, 17-partner consortium supported by the Horizon Europe programme which sets out to develop tools that enable law enforcement agencies and society at large to prevent disinformation-induced, real-life crimes while safeguarding users and citizens’ privacy.

FERMI’s latest technological developments

The FERMI project is an ambitious undertaking with a clear-cut objective: to create and validate technologies that address the ever-evolving challenge of disinformation and its tangible consequences. The project is organised around two key technical work packages: the FERMI Core Technology Offerings and the User Interfaces and Platform Integration. These facets are intrinsically interconnected in their pursuit of delivering the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) of the FERMI Platform within the first year of the project.

Event Recap: EU DisinfoLab Conference 2023

This year’s EU DisinfoLab conference took place in Krakow from 11 to 12 October, bringing together over 300 renowned professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds. Over the course of two days, participants delved deep into the complexities of contemporary disinformation challenges, touching on regulation, transparency, access to data and the impact of disinformation on individuals and society at large.
FERMI consortium meeting

Third FERMI Consortium Meeting in Helsinki

The FERMI consortium held its 3rd in-person meeting in Helsinki hosted by the Finnish Ministry of the Interior. Partners demonstrated a preliminary version of the FERMI platform, and highlighted progress on ethics and data protection and communication and dissemination activities. Other focal points that will play an even bigger role in the near- and mid-term future include pilot planning and exploitation.
